Xero NEW Invoicing

Did you know that the classic invoicing is retiring, and you will be prompted to use the new invoicing from 2nd September 2024.

You will be able to temporarily switch back to the classic invoicing until 20th November but not after that.

We know that many are not looking forward to this change, whilst some have already been using the new invoice version. We believe there are benefits of the new invoicing that you will love once you start using it so hopefully you will find this quick guide useful.

A couple of our favourite improvements and updates are as follows:

  • Accept partial payments, such as deposits (Exclusive to new invoicing) – this has been something that many have been hoping for. For those companies wanting to take deposits rather than a full amount, you will now be able to do this with ease, rather than the need to create multiple invoices.
  • More customisation tools for invoice templates, with live preview when editing (Exclusive to new invoicing) – see image for an example of what it looks like along with some explanations below. We love that you can now see exactly what the customer will receive.

  • Add/edit the email wording. You can make live edits to the template on the left and see, in real time, what the client will receive on the right.
  • Cc/Bcc contacts. You can now add additional contacts to receive the invoice by using either the cc or bcc option.
  • Insert placeholders. Using placeholders will extract the information straight from the invoice. You can now use these at this point rather than just in the invoice settings.
  • Address invoices to a contact group. If you have contact groups (for example, a group of contacts that all have the same subscription/services), you can now select the new invoice option to send the same invoice to all contacts in that group.
